The only thing missing is "1er Cru" on the label, but otherwise, this beautiful wine can compete with and even surpass the Premier Crus. This wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes from a single vineyard/climat and is the pride of this domaine. Honorable mention in the 2021 Guide Hachette with 2 stars and the COUP DE CŒUR.
Accustomed to star ratings, Jean-Luc Houblin once again seduced the tasters of the Guide Hachette with this 2018. The very expressive nose recalls a basket of freshly picked cherries. A powerful attack opens up to a delightful palate of red fruit with well-melted tannins. Great concentration and excellent balance. A wine to keep for a special occasion. This wine is best enjoyed between 2022 - 2026.
Historic plot of the appellation by the church. A candidate for Premier Cru status without a doubt. Aging: 30% new barrels for 24 months! These are elements typical of the very greatest wines from Burgundy. The nose features many spices, plums, and grilled notes of cedar wood that beautifully return in the mouth. This wine has aged beautifully and has become round, making it perfect to serve directly at the table to surprise people.
This red Pinot Noir from the Chablisienne region has become delightfully soft. Both in the attack and in the finish, it is powerful but also refined and beautifully rounded. It is considered the big brother or sister of the Coulanges-la-Vineuse Cuvée Prestige. This wine can be served lightly chilled.
Bourgogne Coulanges-la-Vineuse, located 15 km south of Auxerre on the left bank of the Yonne, is the only regional appellation in that area. With vineyards spread across seven municipalities, they benefit from a favorable microclimate due to their elevation between 155 and 310 meters above sea level. The soils consist of limestone, clay, and marl.
A drastic decline in the number of growers was caused by the phylloxera plague in the 19th century. The region remained relatively unknown due to economic and geographical factors. However, the red Burgundies from this area have developed a unique identity, fresh and fruity with mineral notes. Recently, they are gaining structure and concentration, making them appealing compared to the powerful Irancy wines across the Yonne.
A visit to this region rewards the enthusiast with characteristic high-quality Burgundies that reflect their terroir while remaining affordable.
